Accommodation in the dormitories of VMU Dormitories No. 2 (Vytauto pr. 71, Kaunas), No. 5 (Universiteto str. 8, Akademija, Kaunas district), or No. 6 (A. Vivulskio str. 36, Vilnius). Types of available rooms: single-bed room; two-beds room; single-bed room in a block of rooms; two-beds room in a block of rooms.
Dormitory No. 5 is located on campus (of VMU Agriculture Academy), Dormitory No. 2 and No. 6 are in urban areas.
Students are allowed to individually choose (from a list of available places) any of the dormitories in the city or in the campus.
Faculties of Law, Political Science and Diplomacy, Informatics, Humanities, Social Sciences, Economics and Management, Music Academy are located in different parts of the city, Dormitory No. 5 is in the same campus as the faculties of Agriculture Academy, Faculty of Natural Science, Dormitory No. 6 is located close to the VMU Education Academy (of Vilnius).
Just accommodation, but students may cook their own meals in the kitchens, located in the dormitories.

Usually, residents are required to present copies of their passports, must sign a contract, and pay deposit payments (Accommodation conditions, required documents and size of deposit payment are set individually by the apartment owner). Students are signing a contract with the owner of the apartment. Students who are reserving a place of residence in one of the dormitories of the University are signing the electronic Agreement for Accommodation with the University. There are no documents required.

No. However, some apartment owners do not agree to rent their properties for persons from abroad.
There is no minimum period. Students are allowed to terminate their contracts at any time. There are short-stay options (for period of accommodation no longer than 30 days).
There is no deadline for accommodation application, but in order to apply for a place of accommodation in the dormitories person must have signed a Learning/Study Agreement with VMU. Applications for accommodation in the Autumn semester or for the entire academic year are usually accepted starting from July/August, for Spring semester - from December/January.

Foreign nationals coming to study at the University, shall move into the dormitory within a period set by SAD, whose final date cannot be later than September 30th of current year (in Autumn semester) or February 28th (in Spring semester). Reservations are cancelled in case students are not moving into the dormitory by the deadline determined by SAD. Students may cancel their reservations at any time. Accommodation charges are calculated up to and including the date of departure, and in case of an overpayment, person can apply for a refund.

Each year students are asked to complete an annual survey of the condition of dormitories, dormitory administration checking room condition inspection after the end of academic year. University does not evaluate apartments /residences /homestays, but collects feedback from the students and reacts on it.
Each month the university room inspection commission checks how students live in the dormitories and fill special forms regarding living conditions.

Most popular districts of Kaunas (where most of the faculties of VMU are located) are Senamiestis (Old Town), Naujamiestis (New Town), Zaliakalnis. VMU Dormitory No. 2 is located in the Kaunas (New Town), Dormitory No. - in Akademija (Kaunas District)
Kaunas Old Town - the oldest part of Kaunas City, where many notable buildings and facilities are located, such as the Kaunas Town Hall, the Kaunas Castle and the Historical Presidential Palace, House of Perkunas, also the Kaunas Cathedral, the Church of St. Gertrude, Vytautas' church and many other churches. Great variety of museums, such as Museum of the History of Lithuanian Medicine and Pharmacy, Povilas Stulga Museum of Lithuanian Folk Instruments, Maironis Lithuanian literature Museum, Communication History Museum, Museum of Gemology and Kaunas City Museum are situated. The main Kaunas street in the Old Town, and its continuation in the New Town - the pedestrian Laisves Aleja runs across the elderate. Laisves Aleja is the longest pedestrian street in the whole Europe - 1.7 km.
Kaunas New Town - the district, located east of Old Town. This area is especially known for Interbellum functionalism architecture complexes when Kaunas became the Temporary capital of Lithuania. In the New Town Kaunas City Municipality, numerous business centers, hotels, and some shopping centers are situated. There are also the Kaunas Synagogue, the St. Michael the Archangel Church and the only mosque in Lithuania, the Kaunas Mosque located in the New Town. Kaunas Red Cross Hospital is located in the Centre. On the bank of Nemunas River, on an island, the largest indoor arena in the Baltic states was opened in 2011, the algiris Arena. The arena was acknowledged as the most visited Euroleague arena two years in a row. The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, the Vytautas Magnus University and the Kaunas University of Technology are located there, as well as numerous museums: the Tadas Ivanauskas Zoological Museum, the muidzinavicius Museum, the Vytautas the Great War Museum and Kaunas Museum for the Blind.
Zaliakalnis - located north of the old town and the city center area. Zaliakalnis is home to Azuolynas Park, containing a stand of centuries-old oak trees. It is the largest stand of urban oaks within Europe, covering 63 hectares. A few sections of the park have been separated into Vytautas Park and Dainu slenis. The only Zoo in Lithuania is located across the road from Azuolynas. A large number of buildings of functionalism architecture, predominant in the interbellum, are still preserved in the elderate. Zaliakalnis was home for some well known Lithuanian writers and artists such as Balys Sruoga, Vincas Kreve-Mickevicius, Ieva Simonaityte, Kazys Binkis, Kipras Petrauskas, President Valdas Adamkus grew up here. Now Zaliakalnis is a popular upmarket residential area, where Kaunas Sports Hall and S. Darius and S. Girenas Stadium is located.
Akademija - town in Kaunas district, which is located near Kaunas in urban area. In this area is located VMU Agriculture Academy campus. From here you can reach academy easily by foot and by public transport you can get to the bus and train stations, Kaunas city center or downtown, from where you can reach other faculties of the University in just 15-20 minutes.
Buses and trolleybuses are available in Kaunas. Trolleybuses and buses run from 4.30 a.m. until 10.30 p.m. During weekends there are some night-time buses available.
There are two types of tickets: A single use paper ticket and E-ticket (periodic for 3, 7, 30 or 92 days). Payments for Kaunas city public transport are made with the help of non-contact electronic ticket (CARD) system.
You may transfer different sums of money from your e-purse onto the CARD and/or pay for certain kinds of e-ticket (of 3, 7, 30 and 92 days) periodically. You may buy the CARD at the newspaper stands or in the places marked by the special sign Kauno Vieasis Transportas (KVT) (Kaunas Public Transport). You must always have your card when getting on the means of transport. Price as for a student
